Project Scope of Work

Edith L. Slocum Elementary School

 

  • Asphalt Pavement, curbs and sidewalks
    Replace all existing concrete sidewalks along the front entrance to the school building. The walks will be widened to 5'-0" wide. Replace curbing along bus loop with new concrete curbing.

  • Playground Replacement
    Installation of a new grade appropriate play ground structure for the building. Work shall include, excavation, drainage, play structure and ADA compliant safety surface. Provide ADA walkway to new structure.

  • Replace Classroom Countertops and Casework
    Replace existing window wall casework, countertops and grills. There are 9 rooms that are in need of new window wall casework, storage units and countertops. - Rooms 4-10, 14 and 20.

  • Refurbishment of Library to create new Media Center
    Convert existing library into a multi functional media center intended to expand students creativity where they can gain access to information and resources. The term used Is a "shared learning space". This will involve new furniture including flexible seating options, and shelving, ceiling and lighting replacement, replacement of existing flooring, the introduction of new A/C, electrical, demolition, technology a new circulation desk, finishes and carpentry. Open wall between the existing library and the computer lab with a glass partition which will improve line of site and allow for the spaces to feel larger than they are. Work will include flipping the corridor and the existing room to east. This will increase the size of the library by appx. 545 SF Small work rooms will be relocated as part of the project.

  • Vinyl Asbestos Floor Tile Abatement
    Replace all remaining asbestos floor tile and vinyl cove base. Bulk scrape all existing mastic. Furnish and install new vinyl composite tile, 6" rubber cove base. Proper floor prep prior to installing new flooring shall also be required. Work shall be completed in strict accordance with NYSDOL ICR 56.

  • Exterior Masonry and Concrete Entrance
    The original section of the building is in need of a great deal of work. The entire front entrance, including steps and wing walls must be completely replaced. The steel lintels over the 2 sets of 5 windows are rusted and sagging. Additionally the 10 windows should also be replaced as part of the scope. The decorative front portico elements will be replaced with fiberglass components to match the existing wood. Lead based paint is assumed on all painted surfaces. The existing steps and adjacent planter walls will all be replaced in kind. Additionally several exterior window and door lintels are also in need of replacement.

  • Replace Existing underground Electric Service
    Replace existing incoming Primary lines from street to existing pad mounted transformer.

  • HVAC Reconstruction
    Replacement of recommended UV's, fan coil units, thermostats etc. as part of a DW HVAC project.
