Fourth grade classes at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School recently took a fascinating visit to the depths of Australia’s Coral Sea… without even leaving their classrooms. Made possible by the statewide BOCES Model Schools program, which supports teachers in implementing technology into their curricula, the students embarked on a virtual reality tour of The Great Barrier Reef. Using Google Expeditions software and virtual reality headsets, they were able to view a collection of underwater panoramic images and experience from a scuba diver’s perspective what it would be like to explore six of the ocean's most incredible living coral reefs and dive with sea turtles, fish and manta rays.
